Biden confuses Taylor Swift with Britney Spears in remarks on his 81st birthday
President Joe Biden mixed up Taylor Swift and Britney Spears in his speech at the White House's yearly turkey pardoning ceremony on Monday, which was also his 81st birthday.
He was in the midst of pardoning two turkeys, Liberty and Bell, when he mistakenly used the name Britney in an apparent reference to Swift’s current international tour.
"Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds and other people to get here." Biden said, "They had to work hard, be patient, and be ready to go over 1,000 miles."
It might be even harder than getting into the Renaissance tour or Britney's tour. It's pretty warm in Brazil right now, so she's down.
Swift performed Sunday night in Brazil after postponing her Saturday show because of extreme heat in the country. Spears is currently not on tour.
NBC News asked the White House for comment on Biden's apparent mistake, but they didn't reply right away. This comes at a time when voters are worried about his age, according to polls.
