Warm the oven up to 180°C (160°C for fan-assisted ovens) or Gas Mark 4. Grease and line the bottom of a 1.5-liter Pyrex glass bowl that can go in the oven.

Follow the directions on the box to make one box of cake mix. You will need oil, water, and eggs. Put the cake mix into the bowl and make sure the top is even.

Bake the cake in the center of the oven for 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, or until a round bladed knife put into the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes after removing from the oven. Flip the bowl onto the wire rack and let the cake fall out. Remove the bowl and let the cake cool. Remove baking paper.

Repeat greasing and lining the cooled basin. Follow the pack instructions to combine the second box of cake mix with the remaining vegetable oil, water, and eggs, then bake in the bowl.

Trim each cake's top to make it level for sticking. Also trim one cake's smaller end to make it sit better on the cake board. The smaller end should be cut-side down on the cake board.

Color 100g of icing bright green with food coloring in a small bowl and keep aside. Color the remaining frosting bright orange in a medium bowl using orange food coloring.

When you add orange juice to the cake mix, it tastes great.

Make sure to use enough food coloring gels and pastes to produce bold, powerful colors for the orange pumpkin cake and green leaves and tendrils.
