Kate Middleton's New Pearl Earrings Are a Subtle Nod to Queen Elizabeth
Kate Middleton honoured the British soldiers from both World Wars this morning at the 2023 National Service of Remembrance at The Cenotaph in London. Although her clothing was one she already had, her earrings were a recent purchase.
Princess of Wales accessorised with a red poppies, her Royal Air Force brooches, and a black military-style Catherine Walker coat with tassel trimming and a high collar for the solemn event.
However, a striking set of pearl earrings that she had never worn before definitely drew attention from everyone. The posts bore an uncanny resemblance to a brooch originally owned by Queen Elizabeth, set with a large pearl in the centre encircled by three leaves at the top.
The unique piece of jewellery was last seen on the late monarch's 73rd birthday in South Korea. Black gloves, a well-groomed side hairdo, and smokey eye makeup completed Kate's Remembrance Day ensemble.
The previous evening, during the yearly Festival of Remembrance held at Royal Albert Hall, the Duchess of Cambridge honoured Queen Elizabeth once more with her selection of jewellery.
Kate donned her diamond-and-pearl drop earrings and her grandmother-in-law's favourite three-strand pearl necklace to the event. The items were the ideal complement to Kate's all-black look, which included a long-sleeved, midi-length dress with a high neckline.
